FEES ASSISTANCE & SCHOLARSHIP

We firmly believe that a family’s financial situation should not deter any student who would benefit from an ISD education from applying to our school.

In order to preserve the international and social diversity of our ISD, we have established a Financial Assistance & Scholarship programme for eligible students who would benefit from an international education but who otherwise may not be able to attend ISD.

A limited number of Financial Assistance ‘scholarships’ are made available each year to those families who meet the criteria. Financial Assistance is offered in the form of a tuition fee reduction, based on the family’s specific financial circumstances.

If you have any questions that are not answered below, please contact us via email:

APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

APPLICATION CRITERIA (students)

Financial Assistance is available to both new and previously enrolled students at ISD who fulfil the academic requirements. In order to be considered for Financial Assistance, there should be a clear benefit for the student of an international education. In addition, students must demonstrate and commit to:

  • regular school attendance
  • excellent application to study
  • respectful behaviour in relation to teacher and peers
  • adherence to the rules and regulations set out in the ISD student handbook(s).

The student and at least one parent must be resident in Germany.

APPLICATION CRITERIA (financial)

All applicants must provide proof of their financial situation via the Financial Assistance application form and the required documents. The family must not have access to alternative financial support through an employer, their own company, government assistance, or any other means of sponsorship.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

  • For new students, the Financial Assistance form should be completed and submitted at the time of applying to ISD. In order to be considered, the student must first be academically accepted by the Principal (Elementary or Secondary) and space must be available in the respective grade level.

  • For current students, the form should be submitted no later than April for assistance in the following school year.

  • All applications must be made in either English or German. Supporting documents must also be made available in one of these languages. All translations must be certified.

  • The form and required documents can be submitted either electronically to:

    EMAIL

    Or in hard copy to:

    International School of Düsseldorf e.V.,
    Finance Department,
    Niederrheinstraße 336,
    40489 Düsseldorf.

  • All applicants must be available to attend an interview with the Director of Finance & Administration.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION

The deadline for applications is April each year for assistance in the following year, and is advertised on the ISD website (isdedu.de) and in local press.

Applications received after the deadline will be considered only where funds are still available. The Financial Assistance Committee meets no later than May of each year to review applications and allocate assistance.

LEVEL OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The level of Financial Assistance granted is based on a family’s gross annual worldwide income, including all positive earnings regardless of origin and taxable status.

Child benefits/family allowances are also considered income. Negative income will not be deducted from positive income. The income table for Financial Assistance will be discussed during the interview.

CONDITIONS OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

An offer of Financial Assistance is only valid for the academic year in which it is made. Renewal is possible upon application, however no guarantee is made for future years. ISD reserves its right to change its Financial Assistance policy, including procedures, timelines, and supporting documentation at any time.

DATA PROTECTION

All applications for Financial Assistance are treated with the strictest confidence, in line with prevailing German data protection laws.
