Welcome to the ISD senior school and the first year of the Middle Years Programme (MYP). Moving from elementary to senior school can be a daunting leap, so in grade 6 we focus on developing strong routines to be happy and productive learners.
GRADE BY GRADE in the SENIOR SCHOOL
We invite you to visit our senior school, grade by grade, to see the kinds of learning that take place at ISD.
By the time students reach grade 7, they have begun to develop strong social skills and identify organisational strategies that enable them to be successful and autonomous in their learning.
Grade 8 is a time for students to expand their scholastic horizons. At ISD, we afford our students incredible opportunities to explore individual passions, as well as to take risks and venture into the unknown.
The whole-cohort trip to the spectacular alpine town of Leysin, Switzerland, which usually takes place at the beginning of the school year, is a highlight for many of our grade 9 students.
There is much to look forward to in grade 10 at ISD. The Personal Project is the culminating piece of academic work in the MYP and provides students with an exciting opportunity to undertake a large-scale investigation into a topic of their choosing.
The IB Diploma Programme is a rigorous two-year course of study that demands focus, strong organisational skills, and a healthy balance between studies and social life.
Grade 12 marks the culmination of our students’ high school careers. Amidst all the hard work that goes into preparing for the IB examination session in May, the grade 12 year is also a time for self-reflection, as students face important decisions about their next steps after school.
